Family’s live-in Navy SEAL identified

The Navy SEAL who moved into an entrepreneur’s posh Central Park West apartment to train him for a month was revealed on Tuesday to be David Goggins — an American hero who recently retired from active duty after 21 years of service in countries including Afghanistan and Iraq.

Rapper-turned-entrepreneur Jesse Itzler was so impressed when he saw Goggins run a 24-hour race — Itzler was on a six-person tag team while Goggins ran the race alone — that he flew halfway across the country and asked Goggins to move into his home at 15 Central Park West, where he lived with his wife and baby, and train him for a month. That was in December 2010.

The result is captured in Itzler’s new book, “Living With A SEAL: 31 Days Training With The Toughest Man on the Planet.”

While Goggins is indeed one of the toughest men on the planet, he says anyone can get into shape — if they have the will to do it.

Goggins lost weight twice — once when he was in his early 20s and wanted to become a Navy SEAL, and then again when he had gained weight while on active duty.

“Anyone can do it. It’s not about what you eat, it’s about forcing yourself out of the box — to stop being so comfortable,” Goggins.

Goggins is now an ultramarathon runner, an ultradistance cyclist and a triathlete. After more than a dozen friends died in Afghanistan, Goggins began to run long distance to raise college scholarship funds for the children of fallen special operations soldiers, through the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. He has raised millions of dollars.

He is also a motivational speaker and part of Marcus Luttrell’s 2015 Patriot Tour with Taya Kyle, the widow of “American Sniper” Chris Kyle and author of “American Wife.”

Lutrell, a former SEAL, wrote “Lone Survivor” and “Service.”
